Vice President Mike Pence is set to visit Toledo this month to attend a fund-raiser for Republican U.S. Senate candidate Jim Renacci.
“I’ve known Vice President Pence for a while now and consider him a good friend and a great leader,” Mr. Renacci said in a statement Wednesday. “I’m happy to welcome him to Toledo and thank him for helping our campaign for the Senate.”
Vice President Pence will visit northwest Ohio on Aug. 14 for an event at the home of a supporter who is not being disclosed.

Mr. Renacci, a congressman from Wadsworth who represents the 16th district, is running against incumbent Democratic U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown. The congressman received President Trump’s endorsement in the May Republican primary.
Vice President Pence was in Newark, Ohio, on Monday to rally support for Republican state Sen. Troy Balderson, who is running in a closely watched special election Tuesday against Democrat Danny O’Connor in the 12th congressional district.
