Browns sign former UT quarterback Gradkowski

The Cleveland Browns have placed quarterback Derek Anderson on the Reserve-Injured list and have signed quarterback Bruce Gradkowski as a free agent, the club announced Tuesday. The former University of Toledo star will back up Ken Dorsey on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans.

Gradkowski, 6-foot-1 and 220 pounds, has appeared in 17 career games, including 11 starts during his two-year stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Gradkowski has completed 190 of 352 passes for 1,791 yards with nine touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He was originally a sixth-round draft choice by Tampa Bay in 2006 and went on to play in 13 games, including 11 starts, as a rookie and was 177 of 328 passing for 1,661 yards with nine touchdowns and nine interceptions.

Gradkowski played in four games last season with Tampa Bay and was 13 of 24 passing for 130 yards and one interception. A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Gradkowski was waived by Tampa Bay on June 2, 2008 and was claimed by the St. Louis Rams. He spent the 2008 training camp with the Rams and was waived on Aug. 31, 2008.
