The Walleye signed two prospects right out of college Thursday, including Bowling Green State University forward Matt Pohlkamp.
Toledo also signed forward Charlie O’Connor, who recently wrapped up his career at Bemidji State University.
Pohlkamp played in 40 games this season for Bowling Green. The 23-year-old native of Baxter, Minn., had 23 points, with 13 goals and 10 assists in 40 games as a senior.
In four seasons at BGSU, Pohlkamp appeared in 160 games and produced 38 goals and 50 assists for 88 points, to go along with 58 penalty minutes and a plus-minus rating of plus-43.
Pohlkamp helped lead the Falcons to the Western Collegiate Hockey Association championship game, where BG fell 3-2 in double overtime to Michigan Tech on Saturday night.
O’Connor helped lead Bemidji State to the WCHA regular-season championship this season.
The captain posted career highs with 13 assists and 19 points in 41 games. The 24-year-old native of Elk Grove Village, Ill., appeared in 148 college games, accruing 26 goals, 27 assists, 53 points, and 83 penalty minutes.
In other roster moves Thursday, the Walleye placed forward Alex Globke and defenseman Tim Campbell placed on reserve. Also, goalie Jeff Lerg and forward Alden Hirschfeld were placed on injured reserve.
The Walleye are home for three games this weekend. They face Florida today and Saturday, and they play Norfolk on Sunday.
