The pace of expansion of the Westgate Village Shopping Center is picking up as construction crews erect the walls of a 7,500-square-foot retail strip center, which is the second phase of development on the north side of Central Avenue near Secor Road. Westgate has signed three tenants to fill the new strip center, including a pizza restaurant and a hair salon. The chief tenant of the project will be Fuzzy’s Taco Shop, a chain restaurant that will owned by a local franchisee and offer Mexican Baja-style seafood cuisine along with traditional Mexican dishes. The retail strip will be ready by this fall, according to Westgate’s owners, Abbell Associates, of Chicago.
