Another familiar face has left WNWO-TV, Channel 24.
Anchor Jim Blue, who had been with the station since 2002, said he did not have his contract renewed and was on the air for the last time Thursday.
I m no longer with the station, said Blue, 56. They have elected not to renew my contract.
Jon Skorburg, vice president and general manager of WNWO, said only, Jim Blue is no longer with WNWO and is pursuing other opportunities. We thank Jim for his work at NBC 24 and wish him nothing but the very best in the future.
Blue s departure follows that of long-time weather forecaster Blizzard Bill Spencer, who moved in March to the local ABC station, WTVG-TV, Channel 13, and morning anchor Anna Kooiman, who left last month. The Barrington Broadcasting station also announced layoffs in April that included reporters, photographers, and editors.
Blue came to Toledo from Columbia, S.C., where he had been the main anchor for five years. He said he enjoyed working with the people at WNWO.
I ll miss them and hope to find a good opportunity either here or someplace else, he said.
