WTVG-TV anchor Andrews is moving on

Former WTVG-TV, Channel 13, reporter-anchor Melissa Andrews is joining WBGU-TV, Channel 27, as the new host of Northwest Ohio Journal, a weekly public affairs program focusing on legislative, education, health, and economic issues affecting northwest and west central Ohio.

Andrews worked at Channel 13 for nearly three years, during which she received national attention for her coverage of the 2007 Findlay flooding and the 2008 Hunter’s Ridge apartment fire in Toledo. She left WTVG in December, 2009, to work for Toledo-based ProMedica as a corporate communications specialist.

Andrews is a Kent State University graduate and began her journalism career as an intern for WSYX-TV in Columbus. Her experience includes stints as an anchor of the civics-angled PBS program, News Ohio, which aired on WNEO-TV, and as a reporter and weekend anchor at WTHI-TV in Terre Haute, Ind.

Andrews’ first show as host of Northwest Ohio Journal airs at 3:30 p.m. April 10. For more information, visit  wbgu.org.
