UT wins WNIT

The University of Toledo women beat Southern California, 76-68 Saturday to win the WNIT --- the program's first ever postseason tournament championship --- before a sell out crowd of 7,301.

Rocket point guard Naama Shafir was brilliant, scoring 40 points, including 28 in the second half.

UT nearly blew a 14-point lead with 3:39 remaining, as USC cut the lead to four, but Shafir put the game away at the free-throw line where she scored her team's final six points.
