Second UT football player kicked off for assault charges

University of Toledo football player Isaiah Ballard has been charged with felonious assault stemming from an altercation that occurred in Toledo on May 15.

According to police, Ballard punched Carlos Ruiz in the face several times, and Ruiz sought treatment at Toledo Hospital for a broken jaw.

UT coach Tim Beckman announced Wednesday that Ballard has been removed from the team for a "violation of team rules," the second time in as many days he's kicked a player off the team following an assault charge. Damien McIntosh was booted Tuesday after being charged with felonious assault following an altercation with his girlfriend last Friday.
