The University of Toledo will move a January home men’s basketball game to accommodate a national television broadcast.
The Mid-American Conference game with Akron, scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 16 at Savage Arena, will move to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15 so CBS Sports Network broadcast the game.
Nearly the exact same thing happened last season. The original schedule had the Zips playing a Saturday night game at Savage Arena, but UT and Akron agreed to move the game to Friday so ESPNU could broadcast it. In one of their top performances of the season, the Rockets won 84-67.
It will be UT’s fourth appearance on CBS Sports Network this season. The network televised all three of the Rockets’ games at the Great Alaska Shootout in November.
BOOTHE AWARD: Toledo center Nathan Boothe won the MAC West Division player of the week award for the fourth time this season.
Boothe scored 24 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and recorded five assists in a win against Northern Kentucky.
He is second in the MAC in scoring (17.2) and third in rebounding (8.8).
