The University of Toledo announced Monday the impending departure of its vice president and chief human resources officer, whose contract will not be renewed when it expires in February.
Jovita Thomas-Williams will leave UT when her contract ends Feb. 28.
A UT spokesman said notification of the decision not to renew her contract was given Monday in order to abide by a 90-day notice required in her employment agreement.
During the next three months, Ms. Thomas-Williams has taken on what UT described as “a temporary special assignment assessing the overall capability profile of the human resources function.” That includes analyzing the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to the office’s function, a spokesman said.
She started at UT in May, 2014, and previously founded a management services firm based in Birmingham, Mich., according to a UT biography. Her UT contract provided for a $220,000 annual salary.
News of her departure follows other senior administration changes. Two recent cabinet-level shifts took place in August, when the university announced the termination of its vice president of advancement and a reassignment for the vice president of research.
Wendy Davis will take over the human resources duties in an interim capacity until a search finds a permanent replacement. She started at UT in April, 2015, and her salary information was not immediately available late Monday.
