LaNitra Perry, a former associate head coach for the women’s basketball team at the University of Toledo, will return as an assistant coach.
Perry was an assistant with Toledo from 2008-11 and was promoted to associate head coach in 2011-12. She returns to Toledo after serving as associate head coach at the University of Memphis this past season.
"I'm thrilled to have LaNitra back," UT head coach Tricia Cullop said in a release. "She played an integral role in helping us re-establish a championship mentality during her previous stint at UT. I know our alumni will be excited to see her back because of the great bonds she developed during that time, and I can't wait for our current players and recruits to enjoy her infectious personality. LaNitra is an outstanding person, possesses a tremendous work ethic, and is very knowledgeable in every aspect of the game."
After leaving Toledo, Perry was the head coach at Kennesaw State for four seasons.
Perry also has experience as an assistant at Mississippi State from 2006-08 and Georgia Tech from 2004-06.
"I'm beyond excited to be back at UT and working alongside Coach Cullop once again," Perry said in a release. "It's not often that you get a chance to return to such a special place that is full of special people. I'm so grateful for this opportunity. It feels so good to be back."
GREENE GOES TO OLE MISS: UT assistant coach Tony Greene has taken a similar position with Mississippi.
Greene spent three seasons at Toledo under Cullop. Before that, Greene was an associate head coach at Texas Southern from 2013-15.
Greene began his career as an assistant coach at Langston University in Oklahoma from 1994-2008 before serving as an assistant at Grambling from 2008-12.
Greene was the second Toledo assistant to leave after former UT associate head coach Vicki Hall took the head coaching job at Indiana State.
