Cleveland museum showcases Georgia O'Keeffe

The Cleveland Museum of Art is offering an exhibition that takes museum-goers on a chronological journey through the personal and professional style of artist Georgia O’Keeffe.

Georgia O’Keeffe: Living Modern is open through March 3 at the museum. It features paintings, drawings, and sculptures, along with some of her articles of clothing and photographic portraits that show her taste for modern.

The show was organized by the Brooklyn Museum in New York, where it was shown in 2017. Wanda Corn, an art historian and the Robert and Ruth Halperin Professor emerita of art history at Stanford University, is the guest curator.

The show’s pieces portray O’Keeffe’s affinity for black and white during her career in New York in the 1920s and 1930s, the floral subjects and landscape she became well-known for, and her later years in New Mexico, when she adopted the colors of the Southwest in her art. Images from those who sought to photograph the iconic artist are also part of the exhibition.
