Area women’s conference to host winner of ‘Survivor’

Danni Boatwright, winner of the CBS-TV reality show Survivor: Guatemala, and one of her competitors on the show, Margaret Babonic, will be among the speakers at the “Rise 2006” women’s conference Friday through May 14 at Cathedral of Praise.

Also speaking will be Miriam Webster, a singer, composer, and worship leader from Hillsong Church in Sydney, Australia; Jennifer Beckham, a former Disney Princess at Tokyo Disneyland, and Sarah Rowan, an educator and cancer survivor who is known for her advocacy of quality of life issues for the elderly and frail.

The conference starts at 6 p.m. Friday with registration, followed by evening celebration. On May 13, workshops are slated from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by lunch, a fashion showcase, and an evening celebration at 6 p.m. with Ms. Boatwright speaking. Men are invited to the conference to hear Ms. Boatwright’s message, according to the Rev. Tony Scott, pastor. On May 14, the conference concludes with Mother’s Day services at 9 and 11 a.m.

All events will be at Cathedral of Praise’s new campus, 3000 Strayer Rd., Monclova Twp. Registration is $29 for adults and $15 for students (12-18 years old). The registration deadline is tomorrow. Information: 419-866-2094 or online at www.toledocop.org.
