Symphony continues neighborhood concerts

The Toledo Symphony continues its series of neighborhood concerts, featuring holiday classics along with music by Dvorak and Elgar. On the schedule are:

•Westgate Chapel, 2500 Wilford Dr., at 7 p.m. Dec. 1. Information: 419-841-8077.

•St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Catholic Church, 4201 Heatherdowns Blvd., at 6 p.m. Dec. 3. Tickets are $12. Information: 419-381-1540.

•St. Joseph Sylvania Catholic Church, 5373 South Main St., at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 6. Tickets in advance are $12 for adults and $8 for seniors and students. Tickets at the door are $15 for adults and $12 for seniors and students. Information: 419-885-5791.

•Cornerstone Church, 1520 Reynolds Rd., at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 8. Information: 419-725-5000.

The Choral Society joins the symphony in a performance of Handel's Messiah at 3 p.m. Dec. 3 in Civic Center Promenade of the Erie Street Market, 237 South Erie St. Tickets, $10, are available at the door and at tickets@toledochoralsociety.org.

Bowling Green State University presents World Percussion Night featuring performances by Kusuma Sari Gamelan and the Afro-Caribbean Drum Ensemble at 8 p.m. Nov. 30 in Kobacker Hall of the Moore Musical Arts Center

Also scheduled in Kobacker are:

•The Pacifica Quartet in a Festival Series concert at 8 p.m. Dec. 1. Tickets are $18, $25, and $30.

•The Bowling Green Philharmonia and University Choral Society in a concert to benefit alumna Christina Purje, who suffers adrenal cancer, at 8 p.m. Dec. 2. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.

•A holiday choral concert at 3 p.m. Dec. 3. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for seniors and students. Information: 419-372-8171.

The University of Toledo Department of Music presents a free concert featuring the Communiversity Band and TUBACHRISTMAS at 8 p.m. Dec. 10 in Doermann Theater of University Hall, 2801 West Bancroft St. The Communiversity Band comprises community and university members and is open to anyone who likes to play an instrument. TUBACHRISTMAS is open to tuba and euphonium players. Information: 419-530-2217.

Ohio Northern University presents its Holiday Spectacular at 8 p.m. Dec. 1 and 2 and at 2 p.m. Dec. 3 in the Freed Center for the Performing Arts, 525 South Main St., Ada. Performances will also be held at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 8; 2 and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 9; and 2 p.m. Dec. 10 in the Veterans Memorial Civic and Convention Center, 7 Town Square, Lima. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors and students, and $9 for children 12 and younger. Information: 419-772-1900.

The Sandusky Choral Society will present a Christmas concert at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 1 in Trinity Methodist Church, 135 Adams Ave., Port Clinton. Tickets, available at the door are $5.

Youth and adult ensembles from the Dance Gallery Studio along with the Peter Sparling Dance Company present "Winter Wonderland: A Holiday Celebration" featuring members dancing to pop-music renditions of holiday tunes from the '50s and '60s, at 7 p.m. Dec. 9 in Forsythe Middle School auditorium, 1665 Newport Rd., Ann Arbor. The University of Findlay's Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble present "Christmas in the Heartland" at 3 p.m. Dec. 3 in the Winebrenner Theological Seminary, 950 North Main St., Findlay. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for seniors and students. Information: 419-434-5335.

The Detroit Symphony continues its Mozart Festival with Mozart's Great Mass at 8 p.m. Nov. 30 and Dec. 1; 8:30 p.m. Dec. 2; and 3 p.m. Dec. 3 in Orchestra Hall of the Max M. Fisher Music Center, 3711 Woodward Ave., Detroit. Tickets range from $19 to $69. Information: 313-576-5111.
