Chillicothe edges Libbey in overtime

COLUMBUS - Chillicothe defeated Libbey, 70-69, on Ray Chambers' layup at the buzzer in overtime of the Ohio High School Athletic Association's Division II state boys basketball final on Saturday.

Libbey forced the game into overtime when Lance Jones scored on a 14-foot jumper to tie the game, 63-63.

Libbey, 24-3, took a 69-68 lead in overtime with 5.1 seconds remaning when Julius Wells sank two pressure-packed free-throws. William Buford scored 29 points for the Cowboys.

Chillcothe, 25-2, overcame a 16-point deficit with 5:36 remaning in the third quarter.

It was Chillicothe's first state championship in 78 years.
