Notes: The Buckeyes move back over to Value City Arena on the west side of the Olentangy River to face the Flyers after roughing up California at historic St. John Arena on Monday night. Dayton went on the road and beat Illinois State Monday to force its first meeting with Ohio State since 1988. ... Ohio State was led Monday night by senior point guard Jamar Butler from Lima, who scored 20 points and went over 500 for the season (506 points in 34 games) . . . Dayton is led by senior guard Brian Roberts, a St. John's Jesuit grad who scored 16 points in Monday night's win . . . Roberts, the Dayton MVP the last two seasons, started all 33 games for Dayton this season, leading the team with 18.4 points per game, and averaging almost 35 minutes a night. Roberts shot 48 per cent from the field and 86 per cent from the foul line. He had 96 3-pointers this season, hitting 45.5 per cent from outside the arc. Roberts also averaged 3.5 assists per game, and was named to the first team All-Atlantic 10. ... The winner of tonight's game between the Buckeyes and Dayton will face the winner of the game between No. 1-seed Virginia Tech and No. 2-seed Mississippi in an NIT semifinal game at New York City's Madison Square Garden on April 1. . . . The Buckeyes took part in the preseason NIT at the start of this season, and after wins over Wisconsin/Green Bay and Columbia at Value City Arena, Ohio State went to New York where the Buckeyes defeated Syracuse and then lost to Texas A&M in the championship game.-Matt Markey
