Owens-llIinois pulls back glass involved in beer recall
Owens-Illinois Inc., of Perrysburg, is recalling the glass involved in this week’s Boston Beer Co. recall because of alleged defects in the bottles.
Boston Beer voluntarily recalled certain 12-ounce glass bottles of its Samuel Adams beer after routine quality control inspections at the company’s Cincinnati brewery detected defects. The bottles, manufactured by O-I, might contain defects that cause small bits of glass to break off and possibly fall into the bottle, the Boston brewer said.
O-I said its own investigation found the bottles met its usual standards, but it said it would continue its investigation. The bottles came from O-I’s Auburn, N.Y., plant, one trade publication said. The plant supplies about 25 percent of Boston Beer’s bottles, according to a statement.
