Taft joins board of lakes alliance

CHICAGO - Former Ohio Gov. Bob Taft is one of four newcomers to the governing board of the Alliance for the Great Lakes, a Chicago-based environmental group.

The board will be led by Jack Bails, a former Michigan Department of Natural Resources deputy director who had been its vice chairman.

The alliance was formed in 1970 when it was known as the Lake Michigan Federation.
