Several area colleges will celebrate their graduating students with upcoming fall commencement ceremonies.
Nearly 600 students are expected to graduate from Owens Community College tomorrow.
Barbara Steele, regional president of ProMedica Health System, will speak during the ceremony that begins at 7 p.m. in the Student Health and Activities Center on the college's Perrysburg Township campus. Nila Jennings of Maumee, a middle childhood education student, has been selected the class representative and also will speak.
At Bowling Green State University, nearly 1,200 graduates will be addressed by an alumna and master teacher during graduation ceremonies next week in Anderson Arena.
Susan Stewart, a sociologist at Iowa State University and BGSU alumna, will speak to graduates of the university's musical arts, graduate, business administration, health and human services, and technology colleges, and the Firelands campus. That ceremony will be at 7 p.m. Dec. 19.
Kenneth Snead, an associate professor and chairman of the department of accounting and management information systems, will address the colleges of arts and sciences and education and human development at a 10 a.m. ceremony Dec. 20.The University of Toledo expects to graduate about 1,900 students during its fall commencement ceremony at 10 a.m. Dec. 20 in Savage Arena on the university's main campus.
Christine Brennan, a USA Today sports columnist and author, will address the students. The Toledo native was scheduled to speak at the fall ceremony last year, but it was canceled because of the weather.
Adrian College celebrated the graduation of 27 students during a ceremony Friday.
