Ada street name honors Super Bowl ball maker

ADA, Ohio — The street that runs along the front of Wilson Sporting Goods was renamed yesterday for Charles Moore, a longtime employee who helped make Super Bowl footballs at the plant for 44 years.

“He’s a kind person and … he’s so dedicated,” said Molly Wallace, spokesman for Wilson.

Mr. Moore, who retired at the end of the year, represented Wilson at nine Super Bowl games, where representatives show and sell commemorative footballs manufactured at the Ada plant.

After learning Sunday night that the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Arizona Cardinals would be facing off in the Super Bowl, the plant began turning out 15,000 custom-made leather balls for the game and for retail sale.
