Lenawee County authorities seize 20 pitbulls in possible dog-fighting ring; feds head effort

ADRIAN — Law enforcement agents seized 20 pitbulls, dog-fighting training equipment, and small amounts of illegal drugs and paraphernalia while executing two search warrants in the city, authorities said.

The Wednesday raids were part of a federally-headed dog fighting investigation, which is ongoing, Lenawee County Undersheriff Jim Anderson said.

Authorities are holding the dogs locally until they can be turned over to the Humane Society of the United States, according to the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office.

No other details were released Friday.
