SPECIAL EVENTS
Fair comes to Lucas County

The Lucas County Fair opens Tuesday and continues through Aug. 2 at the Lucas County Fairgrounds, 1406 Key St., Maumee. An opening ceremony takes place at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Fair highlights will include rocker Eddie Money performing July 30 with opening act Midnight Special, a classic '70s tribute band. Tickets are $10 and $15. On July 31, '60s, '70s, and '80s rock favorites Flashback will perform at 7:30 p.m. Gates open daily at 11 a.m. with various closing times. Admission is $6.

Bluesman/harmonica player Wallace Coleman with special guest Miss Butterscotch will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday at Griffin's Hines Farm Blues Club, 3950 South Berkey-Southern Rd., Swanton. Barbecue foods will be available. Doors open at 6 p.m. Admission is $12. Information: 419-826-0230 or hinesfarm.com.

Toledo's Funny Bone Comedy Club & Restaurant, 6140 Levis Commons Blvd. in Perrysburg, welcomes comic and actor D.L. Hughley at 7:30 and 10 p.m. tomorrow; 7, 9:30, and 11:45 p.m. Saturday, and 7:30 p.m. Sunday. All tickets are $25 from 419-931-3474.

1980s rockers RATT will headline a concert Saturday at Toledo Harley Davidson, 7960 West Central Ave. Also performing will be Neon Black and Lethal. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. for the all-ages show. Tickets are $15 from Ticketmaster, 419-474-1333. The event benefits the Make-A-Wish Northwest Ohio Chapter.

The Polka Floyd Show takes place at 9 tomorrow night at Mickey Finn's Pub, 602 Lagrange St. as a CD release party. Polka Floyd performs classic songs from throughout Pink Floyd's long musical history. Admission is $5 for those 21 and older and $7 for those younger. Information: 419-246-3466.

The Toledo Opera's Le BBQ is scheduled at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Toledo Maritime Center in the Maumee River Marina District, 1701 Front St. The evening includes live music and dancing, gourmet casual food, and a cash bar. Dress is casual. Tickets are $50 per person from 419-255-7464.

The Monster Jam Summer Heat Shows take place at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow and Saturday at Toledo Speedway, 5639 Benore Rd. Monster trucks scheduled to compete include Monster Mutt, Superman, Escalade, Destroyer, Bad Habit, and Grave Digger. A Pit Party is planned from 5-6 p.m. Saturday. Fans will have the opportunity to meet the drivers and take photos of the trucks. Gates open at 6 both nights. Tickets are $18 in advance from the Speedway office, Ticketmaster outlets, or by phone from 800-745-3000, or $20 at the gate.

Music Under the Stars, a free Toledo tradition for 57 years, continues with Sunday's concert at 7:30 p.m. at the Toledo Zoo featuring the Toledo Concert Band under the direction of Sam Szor. This week's theme is Dominant Force: Disney, with guest performers the Pride of Toledo barbershop chorus and Cheryl Trace, David Dyer, and the Suzuki Kids.

Bash at the Bay, a free beach party and concert, takes place from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at Maumee Bay State Park in Oregon. Hosted by the Core DJ's on CoreDJRadio, performers include Lyfe Jennings, Rasheeda, Huey, Tank, Unladylike, DJ Drama, and Jacki-O.

The Woodville Auto Car & Bike Show takes place from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Promenade Park as part of the planned free activities.

Paid activities include a comedy show at 9 tonight with Shawty Shawty at Fat Fish Blue in Perrysburg. A pre-Bash party is scheduled at 10 p.m. tomorrow at Hot Peppers on Summit Steet downtown, a Black and White Ball featuring Tank at 10 p.m. Saturday at the Omni, 2567 West Bancroft St., and an After Bash Party at 10 p.m. Sunday at the Annex at the Omni.
