Illinois woman dies after turnpike crash in Maumee
An Illinois woman died early yesterday of injuries sustained in a crash Saturday night on the Ohio Turnpike in Maumee.
Linda S. Kozisek, 60, of Naperville, Ill., was pronounced dead about 3:30 a.m. at the University of Toledo Medical Center, formerly the Medical College of Ohio Hospital, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.
Ms. Kozisek was flown to the hospital after her sport utility vehicle crashed about 6:35 p.m. Saturday on the turnpike near the Anthony Wayne Trail overpass, troopers said. She was eastbound when her vehicle went off the left side of the road. She overcorrected and when the vehicle returned to the pavement it rolled over multiple times, troopers said.
The SUV ended up in a ditch on the south side of the turnpike. Ms. Kozisek was trapped inside for a time and had to be extricated, troopers said.
