5 injured in Fulton County crash
BLADE STAFF
METAMORA, Ohio - An Archbold, Ohio, woman was in serious condition Tuesday morning after losing her unborn baby when a minivan in which she was riding crashed the day before in northeastern Fulton County, the Ohio State Patrol said.
In addition to Valerie Rice, 26, those listed in serious condition in Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo were Denver Nofziger, 72, the driver of the minivan, and passenger Nicholas Rice, 27. Ashalyn Rice, 1, was in fair condition at the same hospital. Evelyn Nofziger, the fourth passenger, was listed in serious condition at Toledo Hospital. They are all from Archbold, according to the patrol.
The minivan was westbound on U.S. 20 west of County Road 6 in Amboy Township about 4 p.m. when it swerved off the north side to avoid striking a westbound vehicle that was stopped in traffic. The minivan then struck an embankment, trapping the occupants in the wreckage, troopers at the patrol's Toledo post said.
The crash occurred about eight miles southwest of Metamora, which is about 15 miles northwest of Toledo.
The crash remained under investigation.
