University of Toledo Medical Center to host workshop on domestic violence

The University of Toledo Medical Center, formerly the Medical College of Ohio Hospital, is hosting a domestic violence workshop in the Mulford Library Cafe on the Health Science campus.

The workshop, slated for 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, is an outgrowth of the work being done by nurse Patricia Rizzi, who played a key role in making UTMC one of the first hospitals in the area to implement a protocol for patients involved in domestic violence.

Raising awareness about such violence became Ms. Rizzi’s mission after her daughter was killed by her husband in 2000.
