Paula Brown Shop highlights majolica clay

Ubaldo Grazia, the 25th-generation owner of a 500-year-old majolica ceramics factory in Deruta, Italy, will be the guest at a 4 to 8 p.m. reception Nov. 11 in the Paula Brown Shop, 912 Monroe St. He'll also be there from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 12. Majolica clay is fired before and after being painted, usually with traditional designs.

Paris: City of Art runs Nov. 6 through March 14 in the Hitchcock and Stevens galleries of the Toledo Museum of Art. Selected from the museum's collection, the exhibition is being curated by students at the University of Toledo working with museum curators.

20 North Gallery will open its annual holiday show of work by local painters, glass artists, jewelers, and ceramicists with a 6 to 9 p.m. reception Nov. 6. The display will continue through Jan. 16. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Toledo Zoo. The gallery is at 18 North St. Clair St.

Inspired by meditation, release, creation, and destruction, Kerry Krow's images will be on view at Bozart's Fine Art & Music Gallery, 151 South St. Clair St. Opening reception will be 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. Nov. 6. Evening and weekend classes in watercolor, pastels and colored pencils, and oil and acrylics, taught by Neil Frankenhauser, begin this week at Collingwood Arts Center, 2413 Collingwood Blvd. Information: 419-531-1800.

Call for photographers: The public is invited to submit digital photos of local fences for display on the Web site of Wood County Historical Center & Museum in Bowling Green. Submissions can be viewed through May at flickr.com/photos/infirmary. They'll be highlighted with the museum's third Smithsonian traveling exhibit, Between the Fences, April 9 through May 7. That exhibit explores how the fence is entwined with American history, politics, industry, and daily life. Submit to museum@woodcountyhistory.org. Information: 419-352-0967.

A quilt display and arts and crafts sale will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 6 and 7 in All Saints Lutheran Church. 5445 Heatherdowns Blvd.

Call for Artists: Art that honors priests is being solicited by the Toledo Catholic Diocese as part of the Year for Priests, designated by Pope Benedict XVI. Selected art, in both children and adult categories, will be part of a traveling show touring the 19 counties that comprise the diocese. Deadline is Jan. 15. A beginner's pottery class in which participants will make a soap dish and liquid-pump bottle will be at 6 p.m. Monday in the 577 Foundation's Pottery Barn, 577 East Front St. in Perrysburg. Teacher will be Julie Beutler. Fee is $15 and space is limited. Registration: 419-874-9068.

ArtWalk in downtown Findlay will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. Nov. 6. Shops and restaurants will be open and the Findlay Art League will host a reception for its annual juried show which continues through Nov. 21. Artists will open their studios in the Jones Building, 400 1/2 South Main St. above the league. Information: 419-422-4624.
