Baha’is to celebrate birth of prophet The Bab

The Baha’i Community of Northwest Ohio will celebrate the birth of The Bab, the prophet of the Baha’i Faith who heralded the birth of the Baha’u’llah, at 1 p.m. today at Secor Metropark.

Mirza Ali-Muhammed took the name “The Bab,” which means “The Gate” in Persian, after announcing in 1844 that he was the founder of a religion called the Babi Faith. In 1863, Baha’u’llah announced that he was the messenger promised by The Bab and founded the Baha’i faith.

The celebration, to be held in the park’s Center for Nature Photography, 10001 West Central Ave., will begin with a potluck luncheon followed by a devotional program.potluck
