Did you thank a veteran today for serving our country?

The Toledo Club held its annual Armed Services Recognition and Appreciation Dinner Dance Saturday night. Cocktails and mingling in the Red Room kicked things off and then a trumpet called everyone to dinner. But not before the invocation by Rev. Marvin G. Borger of St. Rose Church, Perrysburg; the presentation of the colors by the UT Pershing Rifles ROTC, the National Anthem, and introduction of the military personnel. Then it was fine dining and dancing with Brad McNett and the Megan Lesley Quartet.

The dinner was fabulous: butternut squash bisque, baby greens with gorgonzola and pecans, dried cherry-and-pine nut-stuffed roasted pork loin, and a homemade red, white, and blue cheesecake of blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, and white chocolate.

More than 90 members and spouses sponsored the event, and many of them are veterans, including Lt. Col. Tom Uhler, U.S. Army, retired, former commandant of the 2078th United States Army Reserve Forces School. But tonight it was the active servicemen and women that were in the spotlight.

Thanks to you all!
