Tonight is the opening reception for the new River House Arts Gallery, 115 West Front St., Perrysburg. Rediscovering a Middle-American Abstract Expressionist: Clay Walker (1924-2008), through Jan. 10, is only the second time since 1968 that work by this prolific, reclusive artist has been shown. Born in Kentucky and raised in the Toledo area, Walker created in several media and found success in print making. He participated in hundreds of American and European shows.
Included is a rare, 11-foot-long woodcut, Life of Christ, last exhibited in Brooklyn in 1954.
Owners of the new venture are Paula Baldoni and photographer Bill Jordan, who aim to exhibit edgy, challenging art. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, and noon to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Information: 419-874-8900 and river-house-arts.com.
