Jesse Jackson to speak in Toledo on Monday
The Rev. Jesse Jackson will visit Toledo on Monday, with a possible stop at Woodward High School, the office of U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D., Toledo) announced yesterday.
The national civil rights leader is to speak at Indiana Avenue Missionary Baptist Church at9:30 a.m. WilliAnn Moore, president of the Toledo unit of the NAACP, and the church pastor, the Rev. John Roberts, will host the event.
Steve Fought, a spokesman for Miss Kaptur, said the idea for the visit came from a discussion about mortgage foreclosures between Miss Kaptur and Mr. Jackson after she was a guest on his radio show last weekend. Mr. Jackson has led rallies in Detroit against home foreclosures.
