Port Clinton collegian found dead

A college student from Port Clinton has been found dead in a restroom in her residence hall, authorities said.

Jessica Schenk, 19, was found dead Friday on the campus of Kent State University, according to a news release from the university.

An autopsy performed by the Portage County coroner revealed she died of asphyxiation.

Ms. Schenk was found in a fifth-floor restroom at Wright Hall on campus.

"Her airway was obstructed, but we saw nothing to indicate foul play," Tom Decker, chief investigator for the Portage County Coroner's office, said in an interview with the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Ms. Schenk was a sophomore majoring in physical education, according to the university. Grief counselors are being made available.
