Toledo boy, 13, struck by car dies; driver fled scene
A 13-year-old boy who was struck crossing North Detroit Avenue on foot died Thursday, according to the Lucas County coroner’s office.
Jonathan Dotson, 1131 Montrose Ave., suffered head injuries when he was hit while crossing the street near Prospect Avenue about 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, authorities said. He died in Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center’s pediatric intensive care unit.
Dr. Diane Barnett, deputy coroner, said a report showed that he was struck by a car, and the impact knocked him into the path of a second vehicle.
Dr. Barnett said it was reported that the first auto fled the scene.
