SANDUSKY — Cedar Point will close its Mantis roller coaster at the end of this season, the amusement park said today.

The last rides on the Mantis will take place on Sunday, Oct. 19, park officials said.

The Mantis opened in 1996. It was unique at the park for locking riders in a standing position. 

Officials didn't say what will take the Mantis’ place. 

The last new major thrill ride to open at Cedar Point was GateKeeper, which opened at the start of the 2013 season.
