Fifth Third Bank has closed five area bank branches as part of a larger cost-cutting effort that bank officials say will save the Cincinnati company $60 million a year.
The bank this month closed branches inside Kroger stores in Toledo, Perrysburg, and Findlay and consolidated offices in Bowling Green and Monroe. A spokesman said the North Main Street location in Bowling Green was consolidated into a South Main Street branch, while in Monroe, a South Telegraph Road branch was consolidated into a downtown branch on South Monroe Street.
Fifth Third plans to close or consolidate about 100 branches.
