A Defiance-based debt-collection company will open a Toledo call center Monday with 17 employees and plans to add 500 more local jobs over the next three years, the company announced.

Credit Adjustments Inc.’s call center will be on the third floor of ProMedica’s Ebeid Institute at 1806 Madison Ave.

The company said eight of the employees already on staff for start-up came through the call-center career training program at Cherry Street Mission’s Life Revitalization Center, and it expects to develop more of its work force through that channel.

The company’s jobs start at $14 per hour, plus benefits, while management positions are salaried.

“As a faith-based company, we are not only concerned with running a successful business, but are equally concerned with reinvesting in our communities,” Credit Adjustments said in its announcement.
