Jane McGee is an incredibly dedicated teacher who makes a difference in the classroom. She uses the best practices and approaches every lesson with “How am I going to reach the students today?”
She has remained current with technology, and has incorporated the use of social media in her classroom to bring the ancient world into modern times. Mrs. McGee continues to bring authentic experiences to the students and to broaden the learning environment. Last year, she took a group of students to Italy and Greece to experience their cultures. Some of the topics and activities included were Roman Engineering, Student-created Pantomimes, and Papa Franciscus “Twitter in Latin.”
What is particularly wonderful about Mrs. McGee is that she has been both a teacher and an administrator. She has taught both Latin and Theology for 10 years while she was the Dean of Academics. During that time, she increased AP course offerings, transitioned the school from a traditional schedule to a college block schedule, and brought one-to-one technology to St. Ursula Academy.
“Jane has proven to be a wonderful teacher, mentor and team member at St. Ursula Academy, “said Nichole Flores, principal. “She is a visionary, and approaches the classroom with a student-centered focus. She has an ability to reach teenagers using current best practices, while teaching such ancient topics. Her loyalty to SUA and to learning is witnessed every day.”
Mrs. McGee holds a B.A. Classics degree from Trinity College and an M.S. in Educational Leadership from the University of Dayton.
