An honor guard comprising officers from Wood County law enforcement agencies fire a salute to officers killed in the line of duty.

The annual Wood County Police Memorial Service, held yesterday in Rossford, honors the 10 Wood County peace officers who died in the line of duty.

The service is held on Tuesday during National Police Week, which is the second week in May.

The last Wood County peace officer to die in the line of duty was sheriff's Deputy Thomas E. Bryant, 27, who was killed in a traffic accident July 23, 1984, on State Rt. 25 while responding to a report of a burglary.
