Construction crews have nearly filled a cofferdam in the Maumee River through which the foundation for the central tower of a new I-280 bridge over the waterway will be built.

A man on the sand inside the watertight metal ring shows the scale of the temporary 'island,' toward which a temporary bridge is nearly complete. The temporary span will be used to deliver construction materials to the site.
