Mike Reinbolt, in front, and Zack Hofbauer keep paddling as their cardboard boat begins to sink in the lake at Olander Park in Sylvania. The two are students in Ryan Reed's engineering tech prep class at Northview High School, members of which were racing boats yesterday that they had made for the class. The students spent about six weeks drawing up and building the boats while adhering to specific design rules, Mr. Reed said. Young Reinbolt and young Hofbauer did manage to get their craft across the lake.
