University of Toledo students Riley Broyles, left, Belinda Collier, center, and Luke Haberkamp, right, plant species native to the Oak Openings area together Tuesday, May 3, 2016, in the roundabout at the intersection of Dorr Street and King Road in Springfield Township. The University of Toledo is partnering with the Lucas County Engineer’s Office to plant more than 9,000 native species, including include black eyed susans, butterfly milkweed, dotted horsemint, prairie thimbleweed, rattlesnake master, rough blazing star, wild bergamot and wild blue lupine. Students who volunteered, many of whom are in the university's Department of Environmental Sciences, received extra credit.
