Police raid dogfighting ring

Authorities busted a dog fighting ring early Sunday morning at this house at 527 Ida-Maybee Rd. in Ida, Mich.

Tips were passed to authorities that two dogs would face off in a championship fight and that 'thousands of dollars' in wagers were expected. Authorities said it is rare to catch a dogfight in progress.

Trina Stillwagon of the Monroe Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said she and volunteers from her group found four dogs which were not discovered by investigators. At least one was a puppy.
