LUCAS COUNTY SWEEP NETS 29 ARRESTS

Lucas County Sheriff James Telb and Sgt. Andrea Luna announce the arrests of 29 people in the county on warrants related to domestic violence during a six-hour sweep that concluded yesterday. Sergeant Luna is in charge of the sheriff s domestic violence program. At least 59 people have been arrested on domestic violence charges this month, according to Don Atkinson, special operations

director for the sheriff s offi ce.

About 90 people were targeted during the sweep from 6 p.m. Tuesday to 12:30 a.m. yesterday, Mr. Atkinson said. The effort, a collaboration of federal and state authorities and local law-enforcement agencies throughout the county, was funded by a national grant.
