The archbishop from Chicago who led 6,000 members of the Orthodox Church in America and was a noted icon-
ographer and icon-
ologist died Friday in St. Luke's Hospital, Maumee.
Archbishop Job, 63, died of a blood clot in the lung, said Dr. Diane Barnett, a Lucas County deputy coroner.
He had attended meetings in Ohio and was heading back to Chicago, said the Rev. John Adamcio, dean at the church's Holy Trinity Cathedral in Chicago.
He stayed Thursday night at the Comfort Inn on Reynolds Road, Dr. Barnett said. He was found next to his car in the parking lot after 11 a.m. Friday and was taken to St. Luke's, where he was pronounced dead.
Church officials said the archbishop had not been feeling well in recent days.
Archbishop Job led about 6,000 church members in 11 states in the Midwest, church officials said.
Archbishop Job was born Richard John Osacky on March 18, 1946, in Chicago, according to the church.
He was ordained a priest in 1973. He became bishop of Chicago and Diocese of the Midwest in 1993. He was elevated to archbishop in 2004.
The archbishop often was asked to lecture on iconography and assist other iconographers, church officials said.
