Remembering Hucky the Groundhog

At a memorial service for the local ‘weather-predicting' groundhog Holland Huckleberry, owner Charlie Hoag holds a top hat for artist Holly Metzger to draw a raffle ticket, picking the winner of her artwork of the critter known as Hucky.

Hucky will be buried when ground thaws, but folks are invited to his home where he is preserved. Groundhog, "adopted" when it was orphaned after coyote carried off its mother, died last summer; his memorial service was called off Feb. 2 due to bad weather.
