MONROE – The U.S. Coast Guard confirmed today that two bodies recovered at Estral Beach in Monroe County near the Canadian border are missing boaters.
Monroe County Sheriff Dale Malone said the bodies were found about 11 a.m.
The U.S. Coast Guard in Detroit identified the bodies as Godfriend McKinney, 54, of Southfield, and Kendrick Covington, 64, of Detroit, who were reported missing early today.
The men were last seen about 9 a.m. Wednesday as they left to go fishing.
They launched a 14-foot boat from the Front Street launch ramp in Monroe where Mr. McKinney's truck and boat trailer were found, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
The men were aboard a 14-foot beige and white jon boat and usually fish near Luna Pier and the power plant.
