City Council members today called on “warring gangs” to cease fire in Toledo.

Councilmen Jack Ford, Theresa Gabriel, Mike Craig, Larry Sykes, and Tyrone Riley hosted a news conference today and said the level of violence in Toledo is unacceptable and, moreover, that the black-on-black crime problem must be addressed.

“We ask any gang leaders listening to bring this to a halt,” Mr. Ford said.

Year to date, there have been 66 shootings in Toledo and 15 homicides -- six of those were shootings.
