Small building housing waterfowl destroyed in fire on Sunday

A small building being used to house waterfowl was destroyed in a fire Sunday at Nature's Nursery in the Metroparks of the Toledo Area's Blue Creek Conservation Area.

Whitehouse Fire Chief Josh Hartbarger said the five birds in the wood structure were removed and taken to safety by metroparks staff and others.

The cause of the fire, which was reported about 8 p.m., is undetermined. Providence Township and Waterville fire departments assisted Whitehouse in extinguishing the blaze
