PORT CLINTON -- A body discovered in a wooded area of Ottawa County’s Catawba Island Township was taken to the Lucas County coroner’s office for an autopsy and, authorities hope, identification.

A neighbor discovered the body about 9:30 a.m. Friday in the 7-acre woods along Weyhe Road, said township police Lt. John Gangway, who also is the township fire chief. The neighbor had noticed police scouring the woods earlier last week for a man reported to be missing since July 24. 

The partially decomposed clothed body is presumed to be male, Lieutenant Gangway said.
