Toledo officials braced Friday for a storm forecast to deliver up to two inches of rain over the area Saturday, while the National Weather Service issued an advisory about high wind accompanying the rain.
“There is the potential for street and basement flooding” from the 1½ to 2 inches of predicted rain, a city statement said. The heaviest rain is expected to fall in the afternoon.
The city urged residents to check storm drains near their homes ahead of time. Clogged drains should be reported to Engage Toledo, 419-936-2020.
The wind advisory issued by the National Weather Service office in Cleveland begins at 4 p.m. Saturday and expires at 7 a.m. Sunday. Southwest winds were forecast to rise to 20 to 30 mph, gusting to 40, by afternoon, then shift to the northwest Saturday evening with 50-mph gusts possible.
