The Wood County Health District is investigating a possible outbreak after nearly two dozen people became ill at a fund-raiser this past weekend.
Health officials began receiving calls Tuesday from people complaining of diarrhea, nausea and vomiting.
They all attended an event Saturday for the conservation group We Are Outdoors. At least 21 people have shown symptoms, according to the health district.
“At this point in the investigation, it’s too early to know what may have caused this outbreak,” epidemiologist Connor Rittwage said. “We’re doing everything we can to identify the cause. Possibilities include a food or beverage item or an ill food handler, organizer or guest.”
The health district is asking anyone who attended the event to complete an online survey at www.surveymonkey.com/r/WEAREOUT.
